OSRS Slayer preparation: choose a creature and plan the trip

Start with the task you received, then decide which creature and location suit the trip. A task category can cover more than one creature, and a creature can appear under more than one master. The Slayer list helps narrow those choices without pretending that a listed assignment is a guaranteed next task.

What does the master filter tell me?

Choose the relevant master and look for the task category or creature. The list shows recorded associations between masters and creatures. It does not calculate assignment weights, apply every account unlock, or replace the rules used by a master when assigning a task.

For a simple example, filter Turael's low-combat creatures. Inspect the chicken and cow rows, then open the creature you actually intend to fight. These are examples within the result, not a claim that the filter contains only two creatures.

The combat filter refers to the creature's combat level. It is not an input for your character's level. Clear a low maximum before looking for a tougher creature, or the result can hide it even though the name or category is correct.

How do I compare creatures in the same task?

Open the actual creature rather than relying on a category label alone. Compare its combat information, attack effects, known drops and available locations. Two creatures that satisfy a broad task can require different supplies or equipment.

A cow's ordinary drops include cowhide, raw beef and bones. A blue dragon offers a different trip and different drops. A larger known-drop subtotal does not, by itself, mean a better task for your current gear or a faster route to completion.

Use known drop value to investigate the rewards behind a creature's subtotal. The loot-value guide explains exclusions and why a partial average is not coins per hour. The time spent banking and the supplies used remain part of your own comparison.

What should I check before travelling?

Open the creature's map and choose the relevant area and floor. A marker is useful only when it matches the place you can reach and intend to use. Check the creature's requirements and any special combat notes before treating the nearest point as the right destination.

Build the equipment comparison around that encounter. In the gear builder, choose the weapon, off-hand and other pieces you plan to wear. A target link preserves which creature prompted the comparison, but it does not automatically supply an optimized outfit. The equipment guide shows why changing a two-handed weapon can alter more than one slot.

Bring the task's own conditions into the decision. A source tied to a particular master or location must not be treated as an ordinary reward on every kill of that creature.

How do I keep the same preparation open?

The list address preserves its filters. Keep that link when you need to reopen the same shortlist, and share a specific creature or map point when the destination matters more than the list.

After changing masters or categories, recheck any remaining combat or value filters. A narrow filter from a previous search can hide a useful option. Clear it deliberately rather than assuming that an empty result means the task has no suitable creatures.
